I wanted to take a moment to reach out and personally thank you for standing with us during this crisis.
The coronavirus outbreak has made it glaringly obvious what we’ve known for a long time: the system is rigged against workers and everyday families - but grassroots supporters like you are the reason we have the strength to stand up to the political system.
Last week, I voted in favor of the CARES Act because protecting the health, safety, and economic security of working families is my top priority. A record number of Americans just filed for unemployment - it is up to Congress to provide the resources and support workers and families need to make it through this crisis. The CARES Act was a good first step - but there is more work to do.
I am working around the clock to ensure your voices are heard loud and clear. My Democratic colleagues and I worked hard to include the following provisions in the final version of the bill - putting a freeze on evictions and foreclosures, funding for transit agencies to stay afloat, adding direct-cash assistance for small businesses, and imposing restrictions on any corporate bailout including limits to stock buybacks and executive pay increases - but we couldn’t have done it without you.
