20 County Tour

It is always great to meet with Iowans as I travel across the First District! It truly is my favorite part of serving in Congress. Speaking to Iowans allows me to stay informed about what is happening in their communities and what I can do to help.

Thank you to LyondellBasell for giving me a firsthand look at their exciting progress here in Clinton! Post consumer recycling is an issue across Iowa and the nation. My legislation, H.R. 6159 the “Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act of 2023” is a great step to solving the issue.

I had a great day at Kinze in Williamsburg. I truly enjoyed the talk and I share their, and the rest of the district’s, urge to bring a Farm Bill to the House. We also discussed the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act the House passed, which included the helpful R&D credits. Iowa will continue to keep working!

I was proud to attend the 12th Avenue Southeast Floodgate Ribbon Cutting alongside Senator Ernst, Rep. Hinson, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from Rock Island. This project is a significant achievement to ongoing efforts to protect our constituents and businesses with flood mitigation efforts.

I was happy to join Senator Ernst in Davenport to tour the new Amazon fulfillment center. This facility is a major investment into the community and is projected to create 1,000 jobs in the Quad Cities.

I had a great visit with the innovative team at SSAB in Montpelier. This location is home to SSABZero, the world's most sustainable steel.

Thank you, Hearth and Home Technologies Careers, for opening your doors to me and my team. As we visit with business and constituents from Southeast Iowa, the concerns are clear: government overregulation pushes families and businesses to make tough decisions on how and where they spend their hard earned money.

I stopped by the City of DeWitt to sit with Mayor Hasenmiller to discuss the challenges small communities face in Iowa when it comes to development and growth.
