Hi John,
The first of the month is today, April 1. That means that thousands of Washingtonians, who are struggling with lost wages or unemployment due to the coronavirus pandemic, somehow also need to figure out how to pay their rent.
While we are thankful for the eviction moratorium that Governor Inslee passed [[link removed]-
orders-temporary-stop-to-evictions-other-help-for-workers-and-businesses-in-response-to-coronavirus/] a few weeks ago, we know that Washington communities need more than a 30-day moratorium on evictions. Banning residential evictions due to non-payment of rent until April 17 simply doesn't address the deep and prolonged financial hardship that so many across the state are facing at this time.
We're joining housing advocates from across the state to urge the Governor to not only extend this moratorium well beyond April 17, but to strengthen and add other renter protections as well, such as a banning all rental fees, adding manufactured properties to the moratorium, and protecting renters whose lease is ending soon.
Join us in taking action on a stronger update to a statewide eviction moratorium that will protect more renters for longer. And for those in our network who are looking for resources during this time, check out the links below:
-If your landlord is defying the current moratorium and trying to evict you, the Attorney General's office can help you. Visit this link [[link removed]] and fill out the form to get started. Please note that the AG's office is only able to respond to tenants with eviction notices at this time.

We need stronger renter protections during a pandemic. [link removed]
April 1 is also Census Day!
Today is National Census Day! Filling out your 2020 Census is the perfect activity for a day that many of us are spending indoors. And, more importantly, it's a small but critical way that we an help our communities take on the additional health and economic pressures of COVID-19. The Census is used to calculate how much funding our schools, public transit systems, schools, affordable housing providers, and other essential services receive. It's also the deciding factor of the makeup of the House of Representatives, where seats per state are based on population. Adding yourself to the count is critical!
Take the 2020 Census today! [[link removed]]
