John, service means everything to me.

I followed my father’s and grandfathers’ leads and served in the military – enlisting in the Navy.

I used my time to advocate for public education – helping establish scholarships and Yellow Ribbon programs for fellow veterans.

I served my community in Congress – delivering for veterans and my community, and calling to impeach Trump despite serving in a competitive swing district.

And I served our country again as one of President Biden’s Under Secretaries of Defense – spearheading diversity and inclusion, and securing reproductive healthcare for servicemembers.
