I’m invading your inbox this afternoon with a last-ditch request: Can you please make a contribution to my Senate campaign before our FEC fundraising deadline ends tonight at midnight? If you have been thinking about donating to our campaign, now would be the time.

If you’ve been meaning to make your first donation to my Senate campaign, I’d love it if you could make today the day.

Because tonight at the stroke of midnight, this public reporting period is over. We need as much momentum as possible to show that we are a formidable opponent to the eventual GOP nominee. And with the Republican field shifting so much recently, this public fundraising report will be looked through with a fine tooth comb to see how we stack up.

The polls are showing that this Senate race in Michigan is a dead heat with a lot of voters still undecided. That’s who we need to get to. If we fall short of our goal before our FEC deadline ends, it delays us talking to crucial voters early — especially in places outside of my current congressional district. I need to introduce myself to the 10 million people in Michigan, and an early introduction could be the difference between winning or losing next year.

So please: Can you make a contribution to my Senate campaign before the FEC fundraising deadline ends tonight at midnight? I wouldn’t ask if it weren’t so important.
