Folks,

Have I ever told you how I got into public service?

I grew up the son of hardworking farmworkers. My family lived in a small trailer in rural California where my brother and I shared a bed that in the daytime converted into a kitchen table.

When I was a teenager, I walked in the desert heat to different businesses asking them to invest in our community by investing in me and my dreams of a college education. I made them a promise that I would come back to the Coachella Valley to serve our community as a physician in return for their trust in me.

I not only returned to serve as an emergency physician, but eventually was elected to serve my community in Congress. For more than a decade, I’ve fought every day for my family, friends, and neighbors who dream the same dream my parents had for me.

Those memories have come flooding back lately. Because I’ve spent entirely too much time listening to the MAGA circus go round after round, attacking each other, blaming Democrats, and doing everything they can EXCEPT serving the American people.

And that’s part and parcel for the extreme MAGA caucus. Instead of doing the hard work of reaching across the aisle to build consensus, they grind our government to a halt to play partisan games.

Instead of building progress and promise for the next generation of Americans, they desperately scratch and claw their way to their own power, everyone else be damned. They’re not public servants – they only serve themselves, and I’m sick of it.

They need to get their house in order. They need to end the chaos. They need to do their jobs. But I’m not waiting around for them, team, I’m taking action.

I’m taking a lesson from my teenage self here – together we can defeat the MAGA chaos caucus and win back control of the House. But I can’t do it alone. So I’m counting on you here, friend.
