John,
Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, an international day to honor the impact, the joy, and the power of trans and nonbinary people in every corner of the world.
While we know visibility is not synonymous with liberation, being unapologetically ourselves will always be something to celebrate and an important step in creating a better world we know is possible.
Representation matters at every level. Today, trans youth can witness trans adults and elders embracing their true selves, showing them that they, too, can flourish in the present and future. The last year hasn’t been easy, but we also see many reasons to celebrate…
🩵 Over $225,000 has been distributed to 31 partners to ensure they have the resources they need to protect their communities. Equality Federation will continue to direct funds to our partners to move us closer to a future of trans liberation.
💗 25% of our state partners are trans or nonbinary-led, with over 31% of staff identifying as trans or nonbinary. This doesn’t include the amazing trans and nonbinary folks on Equality Federation’s staff and board supporting the work from state to state.
🤍 At least 48 bills to support trans and nonbinary folks have been introduced in 21 states. With the recent defeat of all anti-LGBTQ+ bills in Georgia and Kentucky, we are showing folks the power of community action.

We're proud of the progress we've made, yet it's crucial to include more trans people—especially Black, Indigenous, and other trans folks of color—in shaping our future. Trans and gender nonconforming history runs deep and is profoundly intersectional. Our very existence demonstrates alternative paths of being and creating, both within ourselves and in shaping the world around us.
Together, we are creating a world where every trans person is valued, supported, and empowered to live their truth.
