Did you see this message, fellow activist?

Republicans are renewing their attacks on voting rights. They are attempting to eliminate drop boxes and advance more restrictive voter ID, all in a clear attempt to silence Black and brown folks, young voters and immigrant communities from having their voices heard on Election Day.

It’s critical that we preserve voting rights and help to ensure that everyone is able to cast their sacred ballots in the upcoming presidential primary election on April 23rd and in every election in the future.

Here’s the thing: PA has seen these attacks before. Republicans are targeting our election systems BECAUSE we are a key battleground state that could determine the election this November.

Will you rush $25 or more before midnight to ensure we have what we need to defend voting rights? Tonight is our first end-of-quarter deadline of the year, and it’s critical that we close our $1,281 fundraising gap. ([link removed])

Fellow activist,

Ahead of a critical election year, Republicans are stepping up their attacks on voting rights.

Shortly after PA Democratic Speaker Joanna McClinton announced her intention to introduce same-day voter registration and early in-person voting on machines, Republicans lashed out. Senator Cris Dush (R) introduced legislation to eliminate satellite offices and drop boxes, and PA House GOP Leader Bryan Cutler announced his intention to push for a constitutional amendment to advance additional voter ID barriers.

In order to vote in Pennsylvania, voters already need to show a valid ID when voting for the first time. But in a clear attempt to suppress votes, Republicans want to take it a step further.

As our CEO Kadida Kenner stated to LancasterOnline (LNP), “This is their attempt to stop Black and Brown folks, young voters and immigrant communities from having more convenient access to ballots and having their voices heard on Election Day.”

We’ve seen these attacks before. In 2020, Trump ran a smear campaign against PA’s election systems in an attempt to overturn the results. Now, with the 2024 presidential election coming up fast and PA being a key battleground state, we have to be prepared for anything. Help us prepare to defend voting rights in PA by rushing $25 or more today → ([link removed])

In solidarity,

Policy team @ NPP

The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.
