And in the still quiet air, they all stood there in silent amazement, not believing their eyes.
The massive tombstone had been moved aside. And Jesus’ body was gone.
Left behind were garments and wraps lying on the floor, except for the face cover which was neatly folded. Similar to napkins at the dinner table setting when the diners excuse themselves, His folded face cover was Jesus messaging, “I’m not finished. I’ll be back.”
Some had doubts. Some reasoned his body had been stolen in the dark of night. But others remembered his words and they truly knew what had happened.
The scene was one of fear and doubt in some and hope and joy were in a faithful few, much like the world today.
Jesus had indeed conquered death.
In that tomb, the world was shown the way as promised by the Savior.
The simple promise is that all believers, too, could forever escape death and avoid damnation in hell.
Faith was, and is, the way - but it is a choice.
Our God chose this holy transformation of his Son from mortal human back to a deity to forge our Belief and Faith, and to show us that Love itself is the bridge from this world to Heaven.
"And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."
~ 1 Corinthians 13:13
