Balekian won his notoriety for his involvement in protesting the inclusion of LGBTQ+ experiences in California schools. He uses his background as a physician to target trans children, saying they have a “psychiatric condition” that “should not be affirmed, taught, or celebrated.” This rhetoric is harmful to our whole district, not just the LGBTQ+ community, and it cannot go unchecked.
