Look no further than Gaza.

We are weeks into the holy month of Ramadan, a time in which millions of Muslims around the world will honor their religious faith by fasting during daylight hours.

But what does Ramadan look like in a warzone? When people are forced to go hungry simply because there is no food to eat?

Look no further than Gaza, where 2.2 million people are on the brink of famine.

People are growing more desperate by the day — turning to scavenged scraps of rotten corn, animal fodder unfit for human consumption, and even leaves.

Tonight marks 10 days until the celebrations of Eid Ul-Fitr and the end of Ramadan. In the Islamic tradition, the last 10 days of Ramadan are a time to give Sadaqah, the gift of charity.

Your gifts in the next 10 days could not be coming at a more impactful time as millions face the most extreme levels of hunger during this holy season.

In the spirit of Ramadan, will you make a gift to deliver essential supplies and lifesaving care to those suffering in Gaza and beyond? Your Sadaqah (gift) will make a world of difference to those who have nothing.

MAKE A GIFT

The suffering must end. We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, including all sexual violence, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas.

Thank you for being there for women and girls.

Sincerely,

Anu Surendran
