I know our team has been emailing even more than usual over the last few days, and I’m sorry to take up your time on a Saturday, but I wanted to reach out before my important end-of-quarter deadline tomorrow.

I’m Josh Stein — a husband, father, and proud North Carolinian. It is my immense honor to serve NC as your Attorney General and to be your Democratic nominee to serve as our next Governor.

Together, we’re going to deliver a brighter future for our state. We’re going to protect fundamental freedoms like reproductive health care access, secure and strengthen our democracy, and protect our communities.

But extremists are determined to prevent us from building this future, John. They’re determined to drag North Carolina backward.

My opponent, Mark Robinson, is the most radical statewide Republican in the country, yet national GOP groups are lining up to back him. I’m relying on your grassroots support to take them on and protect North Carolina’s future.

North Carolina is where I grew up and where my wife Anna and I raised our kids. I’m proud to call this state home and to have spent a quarter of a century in public service here, working to advance our shared priorities and keep people safe.

As Attorney General, during my time in the state legislature, and as a consumer protection lawyer, I’ve taken on big fights for the people of North Carolina — and won. I’ve fought to build safer communities, hold corporate wrongdoers accountable, and defend everyone’s fundamental rights.

We’ve come too far to allow Mark Robinson and his extremist allies to undo our hard work and advance their dangerous agenda attacking reproductive health care access, voting rights, and other freedoms.

The polls show us in a dead heat, and our race has been rated a toss-up. We know this race will be a close one all the way through Election Day — statewide races in North Carolina always are. We can’t risk coming up short.
