Dear John,

We are experiencing difficult and unprecedented times as COVID-19 is fundamentally changing the way we’re living our lives. From our teachers, who rewrote their lesson plans to ensure our students are learning remotely, to our first responders who are putting their lives on the line to keep us safe and healthy, to our health care professionals who are on the frontline saving lives, we are all working together to get through this crisis.

Meanwhile, our Manchester Emergency Operations Center is hard at work focused on combating COVID-19 and keeping the residents of Manchester safe. You can stay up to date on updates from the EOC here

Here are a few ways that you can help:

STAY HOME. Though difficult, the MOST important thing that you can do to stop the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home whenever possible and leave only when absolutely necessary. No one is immune from this virus and everyone has a role to play in this fight, but it starts with staying home, keeping 6 feet away from others when out, and maintaining good hand hygiene.

Sign up to volunteer. Since this pandemic began, the support we’ve seen from across our community has been incredible. Every day, people have stepped forward asking how they can help, and as a result, we have set up a form for people to fill out who want to help their community. If a need arises that fits your volunteer options, someone will reach out to you.

Donate. Many of our fellow Granite Staters are unable to work, and people across the state are struggling. If you are interested in donating to organizations helping people stay healthy & afloat can view a list of organizations in need of supplies here.

Right now, our city is faced with a challenge beyond our control.  But, it won’t last forever.  By being there for one another, by looking out for each other, we will persevere.

Stay home, and be well.

Joyce
