Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter   Have questions? Contact Me Here   Wishing NY-24 a Joyous and Blessed Easter Sunday John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. As we celebrate Easter and the arrival of spring, let's enjoy the nicer weather and the beauty of NY-24. It's a perfect time to embrace renewal and growth in our community and across our nation. May we reflect on the joys of the season, which include hope and opportunity. Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy Easter and a wonderful Spring! Preventing Non-Citizens from Voting in our Elections The right to vote is one of the most sacred rights we have as American citizens. The New York State Supreme Court and Appellate Court agree, making it reprehensible that the New York City Council is now working to allow non-citizens to vote in our elections again! As chair of the Election Integrity Caucus, I am dedicated to restoring confidence in our elections and rebuilding faith in our self-governing Constitutional Republic. That's why I introduced an amendment to the Constitution prohibiting individuals who are not citizens of the United States from voting in federal, state, and local elections. This appeal makes it even more urgent that we immediately bring this Amendment to a vote. We cannot stand by and allow the Democrats to erode our election safeguards further. Democrats MUST Prioritize Taxpayers over Illegal Immigrants Since Joe Biden took office, inflation has risen by 18.6%, causing hardworking New Yorkers to struggle to afford basic necessities. Despite this, Mayor Eric Adams plans to allocate over $50 million in pre-paid credit cards, in addition to free housing and other aid, to illegal immigrants. New Yorkers are already facing record-high inflation and skyrocketing prices, causing 1 in 4 children in our state to be living in poverty. Taxpayers should not be forced to pay for a shopping spree for illegal immigrants. Mayor Adams and Albany Democrats must prioritize the needs of taxpayers over those of law-breaking migrants who are causing disruption in our communities and taking advantage of our tax-funded resources. Our team of expert caseworkers with over 50 years of experience works every day to assist hundreds of members of our community who are having issues with federal agencies. Last year, we returned more than $13.5 million in benefits or back pay to residents. Taking on the federal bureaucracy can be overwhelming, but you never have to do it alone. Our team is here to assist you! Just this year, we assisted a Vietnam Veteran from Oswego County who filed a claim for PTSD in October 2023 and had yet to hear back. Within days of our office being contacted, our team coordinated with the VA, and this Veteran received their benefits! Our team is also eager to assist with any issues regarding the IRS this tax season. We recently assisted a constituent from Seneca County with their verification and swiftly got him his return within six weeks of the request being submitted. If you or someone you know needs assistance with a federal agency, don't hesitate to contact any of my District offices. We are here to serve you! Celebrating Maple Weekend Did you know that New York is the 2nd largest maple-producing state in the U.S.? Our team had a wonderful time celebrating the rich traditions and hard work of NY-24's maple producers last weekend. As co-chair of the Maple Caucus in Congress, I will always be an advocate for our region's maple producers! Thank you to the maple producers across our community for hosting us for Maple Weekend! Listening to the Needs of Our Agriculture Community The success of our NY-24 economy depends on the success of our community's hardworking farmers. Thank you to Canandaigua Supervisor Jared Simpson, New York Farm Bureau Regional Manager Mark James, New York State Senator Pam Helming, Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, Representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture, and Local Farmers from Ontario County for attending our Agriculture Roundtable this week. We discussed the need to pass a Farm Bill that supports the priorities of NY-24 farmers, dairy pricing, and the USDA EQUIP Program. As the representative of one of the largest dairy and agriculture districts in the Northeast, I will always support our agriculture community in Congress. Honoring Kevin Fleig for his Bravery The Town of Victor's Motor Equipment Operator and Safety Coordinator, Kevin Fleig, was in his plow truck plowing roads in the snowstorm on Friday, January 19, 2024, when he pulled up onto a street and saw a pick-up truck stuck in a ditch. Noticing the vehicle was on fire, Kevin bravely sprang into action, pulled the passenger from the truck, and quickly moved him to safety. Kevin then extinguished the flames and swiftly put the fire out. The owner got back in the truck to pull it out of the ditch, and when doing so, the truck caught on fire again. Kevin, once again, put out the fire. Even amidst the chaos, Kevin remained calm and collected. This week, I presented Kevin a Congressional proclamation alongside the Town Board and Town Supervisor for his bravery during a snowstorm this past January. Thank you, Kevin, for your courage and commitment to our community. Apply Now for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition The deadline for the 2024 Congressional Art Contest is quickly approaching!
