Hi John, hunger isn’t as far away as you think.
This crisis is happening right here at home, in our own communities – to our neighbors, our colleagues, our children’s friends.
Hunger means going to school with an empty stomach, skipping lunch while classmates eat beside you or missing an entire day of meals. It’s a rumbling belly that keeps breaking your focus, and a near-constant wave of exhaustion.
That’s why advocates are fighting so hard for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), John.
For families experiencing food insecurity, SNAP benefits are lifesaving. Please, urge Congress to protect them at all costs.
SNAP helps parents afford the food their kids need to thrive. Right now, this critical support helps more than 41 million people get by – 36% of whom are children.
But the cost of food is still rising, pushing more households to the brink of hunger. SNAP benefits aren’t stretching as far as they should, often running out before the month is over.
Nutritious food is fuel for growing minds and bodies. You’ve spoken up on this before, John – will you raise your voice again today?
Thanks for being a voice for kids,
