Dear Friend, This year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and we want to celebrate it with you! We live in turbulent times, but even as we face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we know that protecting our planet remains a top priority. Join us on Wednesday, April 22 for this very special Earth Day event, starting at 8:00 PM ET. Virtual “Teach-in” with Elizabeth May and caucus! For 50 years, Earth Day has galvanized the global community and Elizabeth May has been there from the beginning. On the first Earth Day, Elizabeth organized her Grade 10 class for a day of action. That year, her key issue was the “death” of Lake Erie from eutrophication. Earth Day founders Dennis Hayes and Gaylord Nelson called for "teach-ins" and Elizabeth answered the call! This year, to get back to our grassroots, Elizabeth and the new Green caucus are hosting a members-only Earth Day “Teach-in”. Just like 50 years ago, we’ll discuss the steps we can all take to reduce our carbon footprint and pressure our politicians to adopt greener policies. This is a members-only event where members will have the opportunity to submit questions to be answered by caucus, so be sure to tune in. Register for Members-Only Teach-in Looking Forward: YGC Interviewing Official Leadership Contestants The teach-in will be followed at 9 PM ET by a public virtual Town Hall hosted by Young Greens who will interview our leadership contestants. No membership required so feel free to share this event far and wide! Even as we practise physical distancing, and recognizing that many of you might be in self-isolation, the Green Party welcomes you to come together (virtually) with Greens across Canada to mark this environmental milestone. We hope to see you there! Green Party of Canada |
