Hi,

In an interview on CNBC earlier this month, Donald Trump expressed openness to cutting Social Security.1

“So first of all, there is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting,” Trump said.2 This is the latest example of Republicans going after Social Security — and trying to hide their true intentions by dancing around the heart of the matter. Cuts to Social Security would inflict pain and suffering on all those who rely on the social safety net to get by in this country.

Sign the petition: Tell Congress to pass legislation to protect and expand Social Security. We won’t let the GOP gut the social safety net!

The Social Security Expansion Act would fund Social Security through the end of the century and expand benefits across the program.3 But Donald Trump and Republicans want Social Security on the chopping block.

The legislation would also expand Social Security benefits by $2,400 per year, per person, funded by much-needed tax hikes on the rich.4 But Donald Trump and Republicans would rather protect billionaire CEOs and big corporations than strengthen the social safety net.

Instead of doing what the American people demand and need by strengthening Social Security and making the wealthy pay their fair share, Wall Street-funded GOP politicians in Congress are trying to cut benefits and protect tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires. We can’t let it happen.

Sign the petition to Congress: Protect and expand Social Security! REJECT Republican cuts to one of the most important public benefits programs in America.

Thanks for taking action,

Joey and the team at Demand Progress
