My name is Gloria Johnson. I’m a former teacher & state legislator running for Senate against Marsha Blackburn here in Tennessee.
One year ago today, I took part in the historic Tennessee Three protest to support victims of gun violence and their families when TN Republicans tried to silence them. In the year since, I’ve NEVER stopped fighting to protect our communities, our democracy, and our fundamental rights.

I’m in this race because Tennesseans deserve better.
That was made crystal clear last year, in the wake of the horrific Nashville school shooting. Thousands of Tennesseans descended on the state Capitol to demand action on gun violence prevention, but the GOP majority refused to give them a voice.
So two of my colleagues and I stood up to let the students, and the parents, and the grandparents who were there know that we heard them, we cared about their issue, and we would try to bring forward common sense gun legislation.
Even though the GOP majority accused us of breaking decorum, I couldn't let the Covenant families, young people, and parents from all across the state stand alone and go unrecognized.
The Republican majority took quick action, but not on gun violence, expelling my colleagues and trying to oust me, too. Then the GOP majority passed a new law to increase access to guns.

I won’t be bullied into sitting down and shutting up when I see something wrong.
And right now, there’s a lot going wrong in Tennessee — and everywhere else radical Republicans hold power. From extreme abortion bans to attacks on LGBTQ+ students, our most fundamental rights and freedoms are on the line across this country.
My opponent, Marsha Blackburn, is leading the extremist right-wing’s assault on our values in the Senate. She’s wrong for this state and for our country. It’s time for her to go.
I’m standing up to take on Senator Marsha Blackburn now because Tennessee deserves better. Period.
But defeating Marsha Blackburn won’t be easy. She’s bankrolled by special interests and deep-pocketed donors — and has spent YEARS building a war chest to protect her seat in the Senate.
Here’s the deal – I don’t ask for your hard-earned dollars lightly. I know that you choose to invest in movements you care about – and I hope I can count on you to join me in this fight.
