Why do some people think that oral polio vaccines are now causing nearly all cases of paralytic polio?

Are Oral Polio Vaccines Causing Nearly All Cases of Paralytic Polio?
Surprisingly, in this case it's true!
Wait, what?
[link removed] There were only two cases of wild polio by March 2024.
Yes, it's true that there are now more cases of vaccine derived polio ( [link removed] ) than wild polio ( [link removed] ) .

But that's only because polio vaccines ( [link removed] ) have done such a good great job ( [link removed] ) of containing and controlling wild polio outbreaks!

Vaccines that would even help contain and control these vaccine-derived cases if everyone would simply get vaccinated and protected!

After all, these 'vaccine-derived' cases of polio don't come from folks who were vaccinated.

Again, vaccine-derived polio occurs in unvaccinated people who have no immunity or protection from polio and get exposed to a vaccine-derived strain of polio that was allowed to mutate ( [link removed] ) .
Misinformation About Polio Vaccines
Do you now understand why we are seeing more vaccine-derived cases of polio than wild-type? And why it is ironic that anti-vax folks ( [link removed] ) push misinformation and propaganda about polio vaccines ( [link removed] ) ?
Think about it...
The only way we are going to be able to eventually stop using oral polio vaccines ( [link removed] ) is if we stop vaccine derived polio - by getting more people vaccinated! And that's the path to eradicating polio ( [link removed] ) all together.
[link removed] Bob Sears was trying to scare folks away from getting vaccinated and protected against polio back in 2019 with his post mischaracterizing an article about vaccine-derived polio infections ( [link removed] ) .
Still anti-vaccine folks have actually been pushing this idea about polio vaccines for a while now.
It's one of the reasons that we haven't yet eradicated polio...

Ironically, the only way we are going to be able to stop using oral polio vaccines and and eliminate vaccine derived polio is if more people get vaccinated.
