You did it! With the help of those of you that called and reached out to our Members of Congress, help is on the way to Louisiana:

The CARES Act will issue $1 billion in direct funding to local community-based organizations to provide a wide-range of social services and emergency assistance.
Under the $2 trillion stimulus package, the federal government will also cover the operating costs of businesses in Louisiana for eight weeks through forgivable loans if they retain or rehire laid-off workers.
Community Development Block Grants (or CDBGs) will allow Louisiana leaders to rehabilitate and expand affordable housing and additional social programs.

While this is amazing news, there are still ways you can help — specifically when it comes to the needs of our healthcare workers and first responders. Our city needs masks, gloves, and other safety equipment to keep our healthcare workers safe while they are on the front lines and helping the sick.

You can donate new and unused medical masks, gowns, and gloves to Supplies for Saints: facebook.com/suppliesforsaints. Our healthcare heroes will be very grateful!

It's too soon to say if the curve is flattening here in New Orleans, but with the help of our federal leaders, and your help with social distancing and sheltering in place — we'll hopefully recover much sooner than expected.
