[link removed] [[link removed]] Hey — I’m sure your inbox is flooded right now with campaigns asking for your support before Saturday’s big FEC deadline, so first, let me apologize for adding to your email clutter.
You might be wondering, is this deadline really such a big deal, or is it just an email gimmick? And truthfully, this deadline really matters, and our campaign is taking it very seriously — because whether or not we meet our goal before Sunday will tangibly impact our odds of holding this must-win seat.
If that’s all the explanation you need, then I’d be so grateful if you could pitch in a few dollars before the deadline.

But if you need more context for why this deadline really matters, which is absolutely fair, please keep reading!
Here are five big reasons why this is such a critical time for our campaign to raise money:
1) Our fundraising numbers for the year so far will be made public after Sunday. If our numbers show any sign of weakness, our opponents and the super PACs backing them will seize on it — and pour even more money into Kansas to try and defeat me.
2) If we don’t hit our goal, we’re going to have to make some very tough budgeting decisions. To win a race in a district this competitive, we need to get our message out to every single voter in person, over the phone, on TV, and online. But doing that takes resources, and if we get off track, we’re going to have to run fewer TV ads, knock on fewer doors, and, overall, run a less effective campaign. I don’t want to look back on Nov. 6 and wish we’d turned out just a few more voters to push us across the finish line.
3) We’re already facing misleading attacks. If you feel like the election cycle seems to start earlier and earlier, you’re right! I’m frustrated by that too. But I’ve won a lot of tough races to get where I am, and one of the things I’ve learned is, when your opponents attack you, you can’t let them go unanswered.
4) We’re just four seats away from flipping Congress — and having the votes to protect abortion rights, defend Social Security and Medicare, and stop that extremist agenda in its tracks. To do that, we absolutely must hold KS-03, which has been one of the most expensive and competitive House races in the entire country for three elections in a row.
5) We’re close to reaching our fundraising goal for the quarter, but we aren’t quite there. Whether we meet our benchmarks or not is going to come down to the wire, but I know that if this grassroots team steps up, we can get there.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m not only running for re-election to defend against bad policies like abortion bans. I’m running to keep making real progress for Kansas families — like reducing drug costs, creating good-paying clean-energy jobs, and delivering better broadband access to Kansas’ rural communities.
This deadline is a pivotal moment in our fight to keep making progress, and we need to treat it like one. If you’re with me, and you’re able to give, I’d be so grateful for your support today.
