As you start to plan any summer international travel please take a look at these important passport reminders!
Majority of Foreign Countries implement a Six- or Three-Month Passport Validity Rule which means regardless if your passport still has 6 months left until it is expired, the foreign country will refuse your arrival.
- To know if the county you are traveling to has a 6- or 3-month validity rule, the link below will allow you to type your destination country in and provide you with the rules the county has implemented. Learn About Your Destination (state.gov)
We recommend always enrolling in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) before traveling outside the country. STEP is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
With enrolling in STEP you will: Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (state.gov)
- Receive important information from the Embassy about safety conditions in your destination country, helping you make informed decisions about your travel plans.
- Help the U.S. Embassy contact you in an emergency, whether natural disaster, civil unrest, or family emergency.
