I’ll never lose sight of what victory felt like when we first flipped Georgia blue. More importantly, I’ll never lose sight of what it meant. As a kid who grew up in public housing — with 11 brothers and sisters and parents who were short on money but long on love and faith — I could only ever dream of becoming Georgia’s first Black senator.

But before we won, just about everyone said it would be near impossible to flip Georgia blue. We did it because people like you never stopped believing or fighting. In the process, we won back the Senate majority for Democrats. 

Well, our Senate majority is once again on the line — and Democratic control hinges on whether Debbie Mucarsel-Powell defeats Rick Scott in Florida. That’s exactly why I’m helping Debbie raise $700,000 before her critical end-of-quarter deadline tomorrow. Can I count on you to chip in so she can defeat Republican extremist Rick Scott and protect our Democratic majority?

Republicans think they have a chokehold on southern states like Florida and Georgia. But voters are making their values heard at the ballot box and showing us otherwise. People are ready for change — especially in Florida, where Rick Scott wrote the plan to try to gut Social Security and Medicare and where he’s been angling to virtually end reproductive freedom. 

It’s no wonder recent polling shows Debbie in a statistical tie with Rick Scott. Floridians want and deserve better, and this is our best opportunity to send Rick Scott packing.

But Debbie is counting on us to help her win — because last time around, mega-millionaire Rick Scott sunk $64 million of his own money into buying Florida’s Senate seat. He’s already spent millions of his own money on attack ads in the last few months. But I know from experience that if grassroots supporters like you chip in whatever they can, we can pull off the unthinkable.
