Hi everyone, Julie here.

Five minutes ago I was told on a surprise Zoom call organized by the board in secret that I’m no longer the Executive Director of Ground Game Texas.

When I founded Ground Game Texas in 2021, I was convinced that organizing around popular local issues – not careerist candidate-driven electoral politics – was the way we win the future. And the proof is in our record of achievement. 

I’m extraordinarily proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish and I’ve loved my time here. We’ve won 7 elections, raised millions of dollars, and used those resources to build lasting community and real organizing infrastructure that transcends the short-term boom and bust of electoral politics. It’s been transformative for me personally, and, I think, for Texas. 

I’m still deeply committed to this work. But my path and Ground Game’s have diverged.
