During Ramadan, Make a Difference for Children in Need
Ramadan is a time of joy, reflection and prayer with loved ones and family. But for children in Gaza, Sudan and Yemen, this year’s celebration will be marked by the devastating impacts of war. During this holy month, UNICEF calls for solidarity and generosity towards families and children who are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

Surge in Violence Fuels Humanitarian Crisis in Haiti
Armed conflict in and around Port-au-Prince has intensified in recent weeks, forcing thousands more women and children to flee their homes and compounding health and safety risks. Children are being killed in the crossfire. Critical social services have all but collapsed. Medical supplies are scarce. Hospitals, under threat of attack by armed groups, are being forced to evacuate patients. Across Haiti, school closures have affected 1.3 million students, with over 750 schools fully or partially closed. UNICEF is working to provide emergency supplies and services to meet children’s needs.

From Struggle to Sustainability in Sudan: Transforming Lives With Safe Water
In one of the most remote areas of Sudan’s Red Sea State, recurring drought affects water availability and the overall health and resilience of communities. Recently, UNICEF — with funding from USAID — constructed a solar-powered water system that now provides villagers in Gelhanty with safe water, reducing the burden of collecting water and increasing access to safe water for children and their families.

Hydroponic Farming Improving Access to Nutritious Food in Ethiopia
UNICEF works with partners to advance local solutions to the many problems vulnerable children face — like malnutrition caused by poor diet, often due to a lack of access to affordable, nutritious foods. In Ethiopia, UNICEF has helped launch a pilot program in hydroponic vegetable farming as a way to address child malnutrition while also enhancing the resilience of local food systems.

Shape the Future by Changing the Present for 600 Million Girls
There are more than 600 million adolescent girls living on the planet today — 600 million future leaders, entrepreneurs and advocates. Gender disparities create barriers that keep girls from fully participating in society and economic activity, from child marriage and sexual violence to high rates of maternal mortality and discriminatory norms about the kinds of roles girls can play. Together, we can tackle these obstacles to create transformative change for girls, their communities and our shared planet.
