# [#]Each year we celebrate César Chávez Day to honor one of the most accomplished advocates for worker rights in our nation’s history.

Chávez fought for better workplace and living conditions for the thousands of workers who labored on farms for low wages and under severe conditions. He tirelessly and peacefully championed the need for basic protections and laid the groundwork for organized labor across the country.

The fight for basic worker protections has been a long one. I will continue to be a force in Congress to make sure workers have stronger health and safety protections, are receiving fair pay, and can organize together to improve their workplace without fear of retaliation.

Thank you for joining me,

Scott
