  # [#]Hi John,

Across our state, Oregonians are struggling with food insecurity — access to healthy food.

Oregon farmers and ranchers are trying to close the gap on food insecurity, but they need the support of the Farm Bill, which expired last year.

The majority of the Farm Bill focuses on food security, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). When the Farm Bill expired last year, food insecurity in Oregon spiked. The Farm Bill also includes support for farmers and ranchers to invest in the equipment they need, soil conservation programs, and rural investments like broadband.

Reauthorization of the Farm Bill is a straightforward process, but not with the dysfunction we’re seeing in this Congress. And not with the lack of leadership of Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who serves on the Agricultural Committee. If she won’t get the job done, I will.

This is just some of the work I want to do in Congress. Can you chip in $ before Sunday to help me get there? [[link removed]]If you saved your information with ActBlue Express clicking a link below will cause your donation to process instantly:

I’m proud of Oregon’s farmers and ranchers. Over 95% of Oregon’s agricultural sector are small family farms — and many rely on the Farm Bill. This is personal for me. I lived on a small family farm in Southern Oregon when I was young, and I know how hard Oregon’s farmers and ranchers work to put food on our tables.

The lack of leadership in Congress is keeping families from being fed and creating uncertainty for our farmers and ranchers who need to make investments to continue their operations. While Lori Chavez-DeRemer continues to collect her paycheck, she puts Oregon’s farmers and ranchers at risk of losing theirs, and fails to protect hungry children and families.

Please, chip in whatever you can today, before our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline, to help us get Congress back to work. [[link removed]]
