An accurate census count helps determine what resources could come to your community through the next decade including federal funding. The census also informs the number of U.S. Congresspeople in a state, and the electoral lines at local, state and federal levels!

The census is the foundation for redistricting -- an accurate count is essential to creating fair maps that truly represent our communities. That's why we, at the AOTL Census Working Group, are reaching out with a quick reminder.
If your household has not yet completed the 2020 Census, go to https://my2020census.gov and use your census ID number that arrived in the mail from the U.S. Census Bureau to get counted.
April 1st is an important date for the census. It's the date you should use as a reference when completing the census -- that means filling out information for anyone who lives in your household as of that date.
It's important to make sure your household is counted! The data from your community is used to determine how many congressional districts your state will have for the next decade. With 435 representatives across the country, states could gain or lose a district based on population changes.

Here are some other important things to know:
- If you don't have access to a computer or reliable internet, paper versions of the census will be sent to households who don't complete it digitally.
- The census is available in 13 languages online and there's also an accessibility toolkit for people living with disabilities.
