Population Connection has postponed coordinating any in-person Earth Day festivities to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. However, that won’t stop us from marking the 50th anniversary of Earth Day this year! Instead, we invite you to participate in a 22-day eco-challenge starting today, April 1st and leading up to Earth Day on April 22nd.

These challenges represent small, simple actions that you can do from the comfort of your own home, while still making a positive impact on our planet.

Preview the challenges starting today, April 1: 

• Day 1: Turn it off & unplug! Unplugging your electronics and small appliances when you’re not using them saves energy.

• Day 2: Start composting! Turn kitchen scraps into usable, sustainable material.

• Day 3: Recycle! Learn more about your local recycling requirements.

• Day 4: Save the trees! Use cloth towels instead of paper ones.

• Day 5: Say no to single-use plastic! Replace straws and plastic utensils with reusable items instead.

• Day 6: Meatless Monday! Skip the meat today and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

• Day 7: “Taco-bout it” Tuesday! Have you made the population connection?
