Stand up for elephants, rhinos, lions and other species threatened by trophy trade.
John,
The Biden administration just gave elephants — the largest land mammals on Earth — increased protections from the trophy trade under the Endangered Species Act.
For too long, wealthy trophy hunters have traded heads, tails, skins and even feet of endangered and threatened species using a bogus “pay-to-play” argument.
The administration can end this practice today by returning to the language and spirit of the Act — which only allows activities that benefit listed species.
With biodiversity in crisis worldwide, trophy hunters shouldn't get to kill imperiled species like African elephants, leopards, lions and rhinos. Killing isn't conservation, no matter how you spin it. The administration has the authority to stop the antiquated practice of letting hunters drag home their endangered spoils.
