John,

I’ve talked about women becoming abortion refugees, fleeing their state for lifesaving medical care.

I’ve talked about the threats doctors face in states where abortion is illegal, like in Texas where the punishment for performing or assisting in an abortion is life in prison.

Now there’s another inhumane consequence of Republicans’ anti-abortion laws, and this one is just as disastrous.

In Louisiana, women who experience a miscarriage where their water breaks are being forced to undergo C-sections because of the state’s extreme abortion ban. C-sections are MAJOR surgeries with numerous potential complications, far more risky than medications like mifepristone and misoprostol or routine, less invasive abortion procedures.

John, I can’t begin to imagine the pain of losing a child I’m planning for only to follow that up with a forced, invasive surgery, and women shouldn’t have to endure it, either. The loss of an expected child is hard enough without carrying a permanent scar and adding more pain to that trauma.

When I help Democrats flip the House this year, my first priority will be protecting women and passing a law codifying Roe v. Wade to end this medieval treatment of women that my opponent supports. Can you help me beat him and support my campaign today?

Of course extreme abortion bans in states like Louisiana and Idaho are devastating women, but they are also wrecking maternal healthcare as a whole.

Since Idaho Republicans criminalized abortion, we have lost almost 1/4 of our OBGYNs – and over half of doctors specializing in high-risk pregnancies have left the state. In some cities, care providers have suspended or terminated all labor and delivery services.

When Democrats in our state legislature held a press conference to address this worsening healthcare crisis and plead for their colleagues to do better by Idahoans, Republicans canceled a meeting on the issue and blamed Dems for it.

They won’t face the consequences of their own actions, but they have no problem threatening women’s lives or their access to safe and reliable medical care.

I have a message for Republicans who continue to support this assault on women: your time is running out.

The latest polling shows a record 59% of Americans believe abortion should be legal. That’s up from 44% in 2022 when the Supreme Court overturned Roe

If we succeed in flipping the House, keeping the Senate majority, and re-electing President Biden this year, we WILL restore women’s choice across the country and save lives.

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
