SATURDAY, March 30th, 12-2pm -- General Meeting: Join us at Nora Navra Library (1902 St. Bernard Ave) at noon for our monthly chapter-wide meeting, where we’ll discuss our organizing efforts and make collective decisions about the political work we are doing. These meetings are open to all. Prefer to meet online? Join via Zoom here!
After this meeting, go to these great events from other community orgs!
2-5pm -- Free Trees, Free Tinctures, Free Palestine: an event by Freedom to Grow & Front Yard Orchards @ the John Thompson Legacy Center (1219 Columbus St): Come and get free bare root trees just in time for spring planting and free plant medicine! Come and tour the JTLC, learn about John Thompson and our mission here in Bulbancha, and stand in solidarity with a Free Palestine. Please come out to learn about plant medicine and ongoing projects that center liberation -- We can’t wait to see you!
3:30pm -- March with Palestine for Land & Liberation @ Congo Square (701 N Rampart): Palestinian Land Day is commemorated each year on March 30th to honor the Palestinian people’s steadfast resistance against the illegal Israeli occupation and theft of their lands, and to affirm the Palestinian people’s right to return to their lands. This year’s Land Day is especially urgent as the Israeli occupation and genocide intensifies with the full support of the U.S. government. Join us to shut it down for Palestine!
EASTER SUNDAY, March 31st, 3-5pm -- Trans Day of Vengeance/Visibility March @ Washington Sqr. Park (700 Elysian Fields Ave): Come to celebrate beautiful trans existence, resistance, and persistence; reaffirm our determination to survive and thrive into future generations regardless of our Louisiana Governor and Legislature; and FIGHT BACK against the attempts to censor and criminalize trans people across the country! We demand city officials take immediate action to make New Orleans a Sanctuary City from anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation -- and Down with Jeff Landry and the Racist/Transphobic Republican Legislature’s agenda!
Sunday evenings at 6pm -- Emma Goldman Gathering at Holy Ground: Come talk politics with us and test out how well you believe the things that you think you believe. Reading books is all well and good, but you have to practice pulling it out of your head and putting it into your own words. Beer can sometimes help that process.
NEXT WEEK:
Thursday, April 4th, 7-8:30pm — Political Education Working Group Meeting: Political education is essential to our work to build a socialist future. Come join us at Parish Hall (2533 Columbus St) on the first and third Thursdays of the month to help plan our chapter's internal and external political education projects. If you can't make it in person, you can Zoom into the meeting with this link!
