Sacramento is getting ready to implement yet another misguided regulation that will jeopardize the safety of critical supply chains and burden our economy. The Commercial Harbor Craft (CHC) rule, being promulgated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), will require towing vessels operating in the state to install diesel particulate filters (DPFs).
These DPFs have been linked to dangerous fires in diesel engine trucks and compliance will cost each vessel owner approximately $5 million. I'm leading a contingent of the California Congressional Delegation in sending a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom calling on him to delay implementation of this new rule.
