John,
This week, we took our fight to the steps of the Supreme Court to tell the justices that abortion pills are a safe and effective options for terminating a pregnancy.
We said: Abortion Pills Forever.
The case presented was flimsy, revolving around a handful of anti-abortion doctors who object to having to treat patients who they argue may come to the emergency department with medication complications from taking abortion pills. [1]
This scenario is incredibly unlikely as complications from medication abortions are very, very rare. A fact we have worked hard to let people know.
Thankfully, most of the justices seemed to see logic this time with the majority of the Supreme Court appearing deeply skeptical over the efforts to restrict abortion access. [2]
We are pleased to see this bogus case be at least initially met with the doubt and disbelief it deserves.
Still, this in no way allows our fight to slow down. Even if the ruling expected in June goes our way, there are still thousands of people in states with limited to no abortion access at all, in-clinic or via abortion pills. And anti-abortion leaders (and even some Supreme Court justices) are eyeing the outdated Comstock Act as a possible way to restrict the mailing of abortion pills nationwide.
We must continue to fight for every person to have and keep bodily autonomy.
Sincerely,
Erin Matson

P.S. They’re fracturing. They cannot come up with a unified message. They were outnumbered at the rally yesterday. They are running scared. And we’re coming for them.
