We just heard some troubling news.
The Trump administration is refusing to open a special re-enrollment period for Obamacare in the midst of COVID-19.
Over 6 million people filed have filed for unemployment in the last few weeks. Huge percentages of those folks may rely on their employers for health insurance. Leaving them uncovered right now is unconscionable.
Don’t get me wrong: This wouldn’t be an issue if we passed Medicare for All and ensured health care as a fundamental human right. But in the meantime, we have to make sure people can get care if they get sick.
And while testing for Coronavirus is free under our recently passed legislation, treatment for it is still not. We know what that means — many who receive positive results will refuse treatment because they can’t afford it!
That puts everyone at risk. As a society, we are only as safe as the least-insured amongst us. That’s why I’m asking you to take action right now:
Thanks for taking action today.
