Texas Black woman sentenced to five years over single, simple voting error finally acquitted
A Texas appeals court has finally thrown out a ridiculous, five-year prison sentence for Crystal Mason, a Texas woman who was sentenced in 2018 for trying to cast a provisional ballot in the 2016 presidential election that was rejected. Mason was ineligible to vote at the time because she was still on supervised release for a tax felony. She has always maintained she had no idea she was ineligible and only tried to cast a ballot because her mother urged her to. Let's cut to the chase. This is not the phantom voter fraud Republicans desperately want it to be. It was an honest voting mistake, and — stop us if you've heard this one before — the egregious, coordinated assault by a Republican prosecutor and Republican judge that followed was seen by many observers as nothing more than a thinly veiled effort to make an example of Mason and intimidate Black voters in Texas.

A judge finally found fraudulent votes — they’re all from a Republican
Surprise, surprise, surprise. Brian Pritchard, the first vice chairman of the state Republican Party and a conservative talk radio host — who has incessantly claimed the 2020 election was stolen — repeatedly violated state election laws when he voted illegally as a convicted felon in nine elections from 2008 to 2010, a Georgia judge ruled. At the time he cast every one of those votes, Pritchard was still on probation for a prior felony forgery conviction in Pennsylvania. Pritchard claimed he was not aware that the Pennsylvania criminal court had extended his probation until 2011 for allegedly failing to pay $38,000 in restitution, but the presiding judge in Georgia wasn't buying his bullshit; Pritchard, who is white, had appeared in court multiple times while his probation was extended, so he should have known he had not completed his sentence. For his repeated crimes, Pritchard was ordered to pay a whopping $5,000 fine and will be subjected to a very serious and not-at-all performative "public reprimand." Compared to Crystal Mason's case in Texas, this seems a little out of whack, no? See if you can spot the difference.

Shanahan’s beef with IVF reportedly began when she was turned away as a candidate for the procedure, with a clinic identifying her as a poor candidate due to a prior diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome. Since then, she has invested millions into research that offers alternatives to the procedure, including funding some truly wacky ideas, like examining the "effects of two hours of morning sunlight on reproductive health." We can't wait to hear what other exciting "alternative" solutions to actual science these two conjure up.
