Rep. Mark Meadows Announces Sixth Annual Veterans’ Solutions Seminars

Washington, D.C. - Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) has announced the locations and times for the

Sixth Annual NC-11 Veterans’ Solutions Seminars.

This August, Congressman Meadows, in partnership with the Charles George VA Medical Center staff, the NC Division of Veteran’s Affairs, and the Veterans’ Affairs Winston-Salem Regional Benefit Office, will host a series of Veterans’ Solutions Seminars across the 11th district to provide practical assistance to those who have served our nation.

Veterans and their families will be invited to meet with members of Congressman Meadows’ staff, representatives from the VA hospital, the benefit office, and the NC division of Veterans Affairs at the seminars.

The veterans will be able to learn more about available assistance with issues surrounding VA benefits, healthcare, and disability.

The NC House has revised SB 683 to nix the Floyd Amendment which means that there is now government voter ID on absentee ballots in this substitute bill.

While we are pleased that David Lewis and the Rules Committee fixed SB 683 by reinstating valid voter ID on absentee ballots, it's not a done deal.

On Monday, August 12th, the bill goes to the NC House Rules Committee,Rep David Lewis Chair, for a reading and hopefully no changes to page 6, lines 14 to 31 that nixes Floyd. It will then have to go to the full NC House for a vote before going to a conference committee in the Senate. If all goes well. the Senate may vote on it Tuesday or Wednesday.

We will be putting out an Action Alert either late Monday or early Tuesday with progress, updates and calls to the Senate. YOU MADE THIS HAPPEN. IT WAS THE PRESSURE FROM CALLS AND EMAILS that made the GOP House Delegation fix their blunder with the Floyd Amendment (passed last December.) Constituents, GOP Chairs and their own GOP delegation sat up and took notice.

This is the third letter and response to Rep David Lewis' absurd claim that our demand to nix the Floyd Amendment and re-instate valid voter ID on absentee ballots is 'paranoia and not legitimate.'
