This year is different in Florida – I can feel it and I know that you can too. As someone who has played heroes like Luke Skywalker, I know a thing or two about scrappy missions and standing up to formidable foes. Today, I'm reaching out to you on behalf of a real-life hero, someone who started from humble beginnings and is now on a mission for good.

I'm talking about Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, a force to be reckoned with in her own right. Debbie worked her way up as an immigrant in this country and has gone on to achieve the impossible. Debbie’s story is proof that anyone with determination and a commitment to justice can make a difference.

Rick Scott has declared war on our fundamental rights, our hard-earned retirement benefits, and on the very diversity that makes Florida and this country so great.

Rick Scott has used his time in the Senate to enrich himself. He’s put his own wealth and allies ahead of the people he’s supposed to serve. Scott has amassed a network of allies including Donald Trump – but he knows as well as we do that the majority is not on his side. Rick Scott is vulnerable.
