The twins smashing gender stereotypes thanks to your support

Hi Friend,
As Women’s History Month comes to an end, we're sharing the remarkable story of two twins from India.
Twin sisters Chhaya and Chhavi are breaking gender barriers by saving sight and paving paths for girls in India. How do they do it? In part, by playing soccer!
The twin sisters were raised by their grandmother in a small village in Bihar, India. They had no electricity, no hospital, and no drivable roads. The girls walked three miles to and from primary school every day. Gender biases in rural India left them with limited opportunities in life.
But the sisters were given a remarkable chance, thanks to Orbis supporters and the founder of Orbis partner Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, Mrityunjay Tiwari.

In a "twin” effort to change attitudes towards women and address a gender bias in eye care, he set up a soccer training program and an ophthalmic training program – the twins excelled in both and before long had smashed gender stereotypes in their community by playing soccer and becoming optometrists – all thanks to the generosity of Orbis supporters like you.
Happy Friday,
Team Orbis
