Cybercriminals are despicably exploiting the Coronavirus crisis to scam Texans. I wanted to ensure you have the knowledge and tools you need to avoid falling victim. Please do your part to share with our older populations too, as they are often specifically targeted by cyber attackers.

Here is valuable guidance from the Texas Office of the Attorney General:
 


 

Emails may look like they are from legitimate organizations like the CDC or World Health Organization. Be sure to check the validity of the sender’s email address and be wary of clicking links or opening attachments. If it doesn’t feel right, delete it.

If you or a loved one have received a phishing email or are a victim of a cyber-attack, file a complaint right away: https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection/file-consumer-complaint.
