John,
There’s momentum to develop a tax on billionaire wealth not just in the United States, but also abroad.
Member nations of the G20 will be meeting in the coming weeks to develop the agenda for this year’s G20 summit―and under consideration is a global minimum tax on billionaires. Already, finance ministers from France, Brazil, and several other G20 countries have expressed interest because they see how the massive accumulation of wealth among the very few is a threat to global democracy.
President Biden has expressed support for taxing the wealth gains of billionaires and ultra-millionaires here at home. But in order to advance a tax on billionaire wealth world-wide, we need U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to endorse the proposal now.
Add your name and urge Secretary Yellen to endorse a global minimum billionaire tax before the G20 summit later this year.
Wealth inequality is spiraling out of control. In 2023 alone, the world’s wealthiest families became $1.5 trillion richer.[1] Here at home, U.S. billionaires are now worth a record $5.2 trillion, seeing their wealth soar by 78%―or $2.3 trillion[2]―since the enactment of the Trump-GOP tax scam, which handed trillions of dollars in tax breaks to the rich and big corporations:
And, taxing the wealth gains of billionaires isn’t just popular among everyday people. A new poll of millionaires in G20 countries found that 75% support a 2% wealth tax on billionaires.[3]
Add your name now to tell U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to endorse a global minimum billionaire tax before the G20 summit later this year.
Together, we’re fighting for an economy and a tax system that puts working people first and demands the wealthy pay their fair share in taxes.
Thank you for taking action today,
