Hi there, it’s Jenny — Tim Kaine’s Finance Director.
My team spends a huge percentage of our time carefully tracking the money involved in this campaign. We monitor what comes in, what needs to be spent, and how we can reconcile the two. Right now, amid attacks from everyone from Stephen Miller to the RNC, the campaign is really ramping up, so the money is more important than it’s ever been before.
Earlier this week, we set a goal of raising $50,000 before midnight on March 31. This is our most important goal of 2024 for one major reason:
It’s our first FEC filing deadline of the year. That means everything we raise between now and then will be released by the Federal Election Commission and made public for anyone to see — including Tim’s MAGA opponents, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, GOP super PACs, the media, and everyone in between.
If our fundraising numbers are strong, we can demonstrate our strength to national Republicans who are hellbent on defeating Tim Kaine and show Donald Trump that he has no shot at flipping VA in November.
If our fundraising numbers are weak, it will invite massive spending in Virginia by national Republicans — and give Tim’s opponents momentum heading into the spring and summer.
