$5 may not seem like a lot, but for some people, it's more important than anyone could understand.
That $5 could be the difference between taking the bus or walking miles to work.
That $5 could be the difference between dinner or hoping your lunch holds you over.
That $5 could be the difference between going to the doctor or ignoring your symptoms.
That's why I don't take asking for money lightly. I really mean it when I say that your contribution can make a difference. Because I know that struggle. I've lived it.
My mom worked long hours as a postal worker just to afford our subsidized apartment and then help me become the first one in my family to graduate college. But now the far right is trying to take away workers rights, housing and public education – and those same villains are sending millions to attack me.
So I ran for Congress to give opportunities to kids of New York, kids like me. And I really believe that together, we can do that.
