I was excited to finally share some good news with you in the midst of an onslaught of shameful attacks on abortion access across the country. On Monday, a federal district judge in Texas blocked the state’s order restricting abortion during the COVID-19 pandemic because Texans will suffer irreparable harm if clinics are closed.
But by the end of the day, the state had filed an appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and yesterday afternoon, the Fifth Circuit lifted the temporary stay, allowing Texas Governor Greg Abbott to drastically restrict essential, time-sensitive abortion procedures.
