Hello SAAM Supporter,
We can hardly believe it, but Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is just DAYS AWAY!
As you know, our theme “Building Connected Communities” encourages us to engage in community-wide efforts toward preventing sexual abuse, assault, and harrasment. Just ahead of SAAM we have released two new resources, “Building Blocks of a Connected Community” and “Together We Can Build Connected Communities”, that explore the ways inclusive, equitable, and connected communities can buffer against the risk of sexual violence. They also look into the factors communities must consider when working toward solutions that leave no one behind. We encourage you to read these resources and share them with your network over the next month.
In our most recent press release, our CEO Yolanda Edrington said the following about our campaign:
“This campaign is relevant to all of us because each of us is part of many communities, including our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, places of worship, and online spaces. Making positive strides toward building communities that are more inclusive, equitable, and connected, can impact everyone within that community, both now and in the future.”
Would you like to celebrate SAAM with your community? Our new blog, “How Colleges Can Get Involved in SAAM 2024” investigates just some of the ways you can encourage SAAM participation. The “SAAM Event-Planning 101” page can also be a great source of information for you, your peers, your team, and your community partners.
If you haven’t caught up on all the SAAM resources we’ve shared yet, please visit the SAAM page on our website to learn more about the campaign and ways to get involved throughout the month.
We look forward to seeing all that you do throughout #SAAM2024! Don’t forget to share with us @NSVRC on social media.
That’s all for now.
Best,
Team NSVRC
