March 31 marks International Transgender Day of Visibility, and there couldn't be a more important time to take action. Trans Day of Visibility is a day dedicated to celebrating the important contributions of transgender and nonbinary people to society, while also raising awareness about how we can support their rights, identities, and overall wellbeing. At a time when anti-trans legislation is being pushed across the country, AFSP stands strong in its commitment to supporting mental health and suicide prevention among transgender people.

In a recent article for AFSP's Real Stories blog, Volunteer Advocate Willow Danielle writes about her experience growing up in rural Arkansas as a transgender woman. Willow knows firsthand the importance of gender-affirming care for mental health and suicide prevention in the transgender community, which is why she and so many other AFSP Volunteer Advocates are taking collective action against anti-trans legislation.

"We must stand together against systemic harm against LGBTQ youth and spread awareness around these critical issues," Willow writes. "We must demand that trans youth have access to gender-affirming care and a positive, non-discriminatory school environment."
