Dear John,

During these uncertain times, millions of Americans are relying on life-saving resources, such as Medicare, food assistance, and other federally funded programs, to weather the pandemic.

But without an accurate Census count, New York could lose billions of dollars necessary to keep these vital programs alive.

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated just how important it is for our healthcare system, our schools, and our social services to have the funding and support needed to survive crises like this one.

Immigrants and other historically undercounted communities are at particular risk during these times. Now more than ever, we need to ensure that New York is prepared and has adequate funding to support our communities during hard times and good ones. The census is safe, secure, and confidential. Census data cannot be shared with any other government agencies or law enforcement bureaus.

To ensure that every New Yorker is covered when an emergency strikes, we must ALL be counted in the 2020 Census.

If you haven’t already, make sure to complete the Census today ([link removed]) ! Don’t forget: You can access multilingual guides ([link removed]) to provide help in completing the census.

There are 3 quick and easy ways to fill out the Census:

While Social distancing has created new challenges for Census outreach and education, we’re ramping up our digital organizing and taking measures to ensure ALL New Yorkers will be counted. As part of our NY United campaign ([link removed]) , we advocated for an extended Census response period, and now, all New Yorkers have until August 14 to complete the questionnaire.

Immigrants are on the frontlines of the COVID pandemic, but are being left out in the cold for relief. Donate now ([link removed]) to help provide relief to struggling immigrants, the organizations that serve them, and us to fight for their inclusion at this time of need by supporting the COVID-19 Immigrant Emergency Response Fund.

Join us in building strong, resilient communities across our state—fill out the 2020 Census ([link removed]) and help us spread the word!
