Fritz Bauer’s Legacy — Justice Has No Expiration

Former SS guards from concentration camps face trial, decades after WWII. But why were they able to remain undisturbed for so long? And what do these presumably final trials against Nazi perpetrators mean for the survivors of the Shoah? (98 min | Germany | 2022 | German with English subtitles).

The Goethe-Institut Washington, in collaboration with the German Embassy Washington, presents the first installment of an exclusive selection of films from the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin. The event will commence with a welcome address from the Chargé d'Affaires of the German Embassy in Washington D.C., Axel Dittmann. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with filmmaker Cornelia Partmann.

Transatlantic Talks

Throughout the United States, we're bringing together German and American journalists to share their perspectives on current political and social developments in Germany, the United States, and globally. Our second event features René Pfister (DER SPIEGEL) and Charles Lane (Washington Post) who will discuss  "Tolerance, Wokeness, And The Trouble With It All" and the threats to free speech from the left and the right. The Foreign Correspondent Talks are presented by the American Council on Germany and the Goethe-Institut.

New Course For Teens

In this new 10-weeks online group course 12–17-year-olds will learn together with an instructor during weekly live sessions (1.5 hours), practice new skills with an interactive textbook during weekly homework (~45 minutes) and connect with classmates in a guided online forum.
