As the leader of the Make-A-Wish® fundraising team, I wanted to reach out to share why World Wish Month is one of the most important times of the entire year for our mission.

It all started back in 1980, when an entire community came together to grant 7-year-old Chris’ wish to become a police officer. Chris and his wish inspired the movement that can create better medical outcomes and brought back the joys of childhood for thousands of kids in the decades since. Now, every year on April 29, we celebrate World Wish Day in honor of Chris and his life-changing legacy and celebrate throughout the month of April by granting as many wishes as possible.

So, what does this all have to do with fundraising? Chris’ legacy of granting wishes isn’t possible without the generosity of supporters like you. Granting wishes is much more expensive than it used to be back in the 80s, and the list of kids waiting for their wish grows by 40 kids every day. So as we approach this pivotal month for Make-A-Wish, we’re turning to you to help us start things on the strongest possible note.
