We have a big campaign update to share out of New Jersey, John:
Former New Jersey WFP State Director Sue Altman, a longtime anti-corruption organizer, former teacher, and professional basketball player, is running for Congress in New Jersey’s seventh district — and today, her campaign was added to the DCCC’s Red to Blue program, which means this is officially one of the most competitive House races in the country.
Why is this a big deal, John? Let us explain:
Within days of one another, Sue’s primary opponents dropped out and endorsed her, forcing New Jersey's Democratic Establishment to coalesce behind her.
And along with recent news that she’s secured backing from national Democrats, it’s a sign that the political elite that has historically sought to undermine progressive candidates like Sue — now see our growing momentum to defeat Republican incumbents and take back the House in November.
All of these positive signs mean that and one more thing: we need to keep our foot on the gas. We cannot afford to slow down and lose this momentum.
Now that Sue is the presumptive Democratic nominee, with the full backing of the Democratic Party, the GOP is going to do everything they can to tear her down in November — but our grassroots movement is ready. Can you split a donation between WFP and Sue’s campaign now to help us defeat Republican incumbent Tom Kean Jr. and send a real working families champion to Congress?

There’s a lot on the line in this race, John.
It’s one of our biggest opportunities on the entire map to flip a seat from red to blue and replace a Republican with a representative who isn't afraid to stand up for working families and take on powerful special interests.
But that also means we’re going to have to work twice as hard to win.
Tom Kean Jr.'s MAGA donors are going to stop at nothing to keep him in the House.
He’s had their back each step of the way: refusing to condemn the January 6 insurrection, voting against codifying abortion rights on the state and federal level, earning a 100% rating from the NRA in 2020, and using his position to support some of the most radical members of the GOP.
With Sue in the House, we’ll be that much closer to taking back the House from far-right extremists like him, rooting out political corruption, and delivering for the working people of this country.
This race is a toss-up, but together, we can win back this critical seat, regain control of the House of Representatives, and send this anti-corruption organizer, former teacher, pro basketball player, and WFP leader to Congress.
